Meet Alex.

f:id:WhiteYoshi:20130707015903p:plain

Anyone ever see a flipnote by a creator named Yoshidrawr? Well, Yoshidrawr's a Flipnote creator from the Americas region, and he's made some quality flipnotes, quality enough to get him placed on the Most Popular list a few times. He entered a contest of mine and won, so I decided to place his original character in my story. For the sake of simple naming, I decided to call him in my series Alex, after his actual name.

In my story, Alex's origins are unknown. Before the events of Yoshi Legacy, he was searching for someone that he knew. One day, Alex swore allegiance to Shadow Yoshi for an unknown reason some time after the heroes all scattered throughout the continent. He was tasked with finding and killing the heroes. However, he tried his best to not kill each of story's heroes that he ran into. Rather, he would tell them of his true intentions, and leave them be after thrashing them soundly enough.

What compelled Alex to seemingly join Shadow Yoshi's ranks? Clay, the one who really orders Alex around, seems to do so without any fear of Alex's true intentions. Perhaps it's because Clay has something that Alex desires, but nobody knows for sure... yet.

After certain requirements in the story, Alex can possibly join up with the heroes as a playable character. He wields a familliar, golden sword that once belonged to a certain Star Warrior, and shows he knows how to use such a blade with peerless skill. He would be a powerful ally to recruit, but who is he, exactly?

I can't give away any more of this. I just can't. Spoilers and such. Thanks for reading! (If you did. ಠ_ಠ )

See you soon!

Meet Aqueus.

f:id:WhiteYoshi:20130706055111p:plain

Aqueus is a very powerful master of water and the mind. He's employed by Shadow Yoshi to seek out the elemental gems and kill King Yoshius IV. However, nobody initially knows why he joined Shadow Yoshi in the first place, even Clay, who recruited him for the cause.

Aqueus is both blind and mute. He was plagued by this at birth, and was often ridiculed by others as a child. However, as he grew up, he found these limitations to be blessings, for his state of mind was much more elevated than a normal being, untainted by visions of the outside world. He developed this skill, and learned many different skills, one of the more valuable being telepathy. With the ability to see into others' minds, he can take control of a willing individual's body completely, using them to talk and see for him. Other powers of the mind brought him to desiring studies in water, which he found fascinating after seeing it through his telepathic power.

Aqueus is very, very old. He's nearing his 400th birthday when the heroes meet him in Kamek's School of the Magi. He had already obtained the Water Elemental Gem at this time, and upon meeting King Yoshius IV, he reveals his true motives for following Shadow Yoshi. For the sake of not spoiling too much of the plot, all I'll say about it for now is that the fight against Aqueus can be won or lost without getting a game over.

Until next time! See you soon!

Where's Mario in Yoshi Legacy?

f:id:WhiteYoshi:20130702181432p:plain

I'll be up-front about it: Mario is dead. He's been dead for a very, very long time when Yoshi Legacy: Heroes of the Mushroom Continent takes place. The feud between Peach's Kingdom and Bowser's Kingdom is a matter of history taught to young boys and girls during this time.

Most of the history in my story is rather enigmatic, especially how periods of time or events end in particular. A lot of heroes come to achieve many glorious feats, then die off mysteriously. Mario's death is very unknown, as is his brother's, princess's, and enemy's. Everyone in my series recalls that there was a great war between both of the kingdoms before they all disappeared all of a sudden, with rubble and ashes of their establishments in their place.

The many different denizens of what was once the domain of the Mushroom Kingdom soon split into many different factions and societies formed through these groups over many millenia. My story takes place roughly five thousand years after the time of the two kingdoms.

A user, DJEvans, wondered why the Yoshis in my series resembled humans quite well. Well, with the years comes a form of evolution, and Yoshis, as well as most of the other denizens, have developed the ability to speak, etc. Therefore, their overall body structure had become modified to become more able to do things that a sentient being could do, and their behavior followed suit.

Many other things are strange about the history of my series, and for the sake of not producing an even larger brick of text, I'll end it here. Thanks for reading the entire thing, if you did. Any comments and/or thoughts appreciated.

What kind of story is Yoshi Legacy: Heroes of the Mushroom Continent?

f:id:WhiteYoshi:20130702110714p:plain

Sure, it looks like a run-of-the-mill save-the-world scenario, but it's actually a story about the entirety of the Mario Universe. Parts of the story have to do with how figures in this game's history, such as Mario and Luigi, were set up, and how it affects the characters that are portrayed in the series.

Yoshi Legacy: Heroes of the Mushroom Continent is ridden with much sadness. Most of the characters have something dark hiding in the back of their minds; from a lost item to something that could be much larger and tragic. In the end, all of these characters' problems will become known and clear, and what they all are rooted in create the ending of not just my series, but the Mushroom Continent's history as well.

I haven't been developing this story for three years for no reason. It's come a long way, and it's still going. I love getting any kind of support or feedback for how I'm doing, so any comments are appreciated!

Hello, Flipnote Hatena Group!

f:id:WhiteYoshi:20130702060052p:plain

Hey, guys. I'm WhiteYoshi. I used to be on Flipnote Hatena, but that went down until further notice, so I've gone and joined this service to talk about stuff from my series, Yoshi Legacy: Heroes of the Mushroom Continent. I haven't ever really become popular amongst other people on the site, but I've put a lot of effort in what I've done with this series.

Anyways, this blog's purpose is to show off character art that I produce (Albeit, without much glitz and glamor compared to most of you), story points and details, and other cool stuff relating to my series. It's quite a tale, and I actually plan to make an RPG out of the entire series eventually, though that will take some good few years at the very least.

For now, I hope you decide to check out the blog I've designed for the series, since I give my A+ effort whenever I post. I hope you enjoy what I have here!

Meet Edward.

f:id:WhiteYoshi:20130701191528p:plain

Edward is the Prince of Yoshi's Island. As he was taken away from his homeland at such a young age, he has little, if any memory of the place. He spent most of his days growing up on a deserted island some distance away from where Yoshi's Island used to stand.

Cowardly from the start, Prince Edward is hardly the man that King Yoshius IV was hoping for. He often finds himself leaping in fright or shaking in his boots about things that most would find only mildly frightening. Not only that, but he's proven to his comrades that he can be vastly unprepared at times for the challenges that he faces and will come to face in the future.

At the age of fourteen, his father, King Yoshius IV, built a raft to sail to the unknown continent outside. When Edward embarked on such a journey with his father and Marcellus, he was thrust into a huge, vast expanse full of turmoil and sadness.

Prince Edward is the image of innocence in the series. Edward is shy, doesn't understand the cause of others' emotions too well, and puts too much trust and fondness in those he meets, especially King Yoshius and Marcellus. He's completely unaware of the tragedy that lies underneath the rest of the world at the time, and his actions and personality match that naȉvete.

As he goes on in the story, Edward begins to learn through experiences he faces that the Mushroom Continent isn't a very nice place. He reacts by maturing quite well, and he becomes a valiant hero. However, he never lets go of his fondness of King Yoshius and Marcellus, and that could shatter him later on in the story if one of them were to perish.

That's right. There's multiple endings in this story. And such is the reason I would like to make this into a game. However, keep reading the series! I thank you all for following me for this long. Keep reading! (When FH3DS comes out)

Meet Shadow Yoshi.

f:id:WhiteYoshi:20130625135640p:plain

Heh, if you even read ONE of my chapters from my series, you'd probably know who this guy is. He's the main bad guy, Shadow Yoshi. His exact origin is not yet known, and his creation and motives for taking over Yoshi's Island are a mystery, but there is quite enough known about this dastardly figure that it instills an uneasy feeling amongst those who speak of him.

Shadow Yoshi is the corrupted first son of Yoshius, acknowledged by his main lackey, Clay. He takes over Yoshi's Island at the early age of eight, when Edward was only four years of age. Not only does he completely seize control of the island, he also uses his vast power to pull the entire island to the bottom of the sea, preserved by a bubble-like pocket of air surrounding the island's edges. An effect of his conquest of Yoshi's Island is the enslavement of the entire island's inhabitants, brainwashing of the entire Castle Guard, and immense, unbound dark power.

For some reason, Shadow Yoshi still sees a threat in King Yoshius IV, after learning he had escaped the takeover. Shadow Yoshi constantly stays deep in thought about King Yoshius's possible retaliation, but why? You'll just have to keep reading the series as it comes out.

*By the way, when I made the scenes with Shadow Yoshi in the series, I used a negative effect on the colors to change black with white, and vice versa. It is also apparent in the image of Shadow above, but it's not made to cheaply simulate nighttime. It's actually Shadow Yoshi's power distorting light patterns around him that creates this kind of effect.

Where's Karo? You said you'd use her in your series, right?

f:id:WhiteYoshi:20130624162531p:plain

True... true. Karo will appear in my series. But I can't explain in detail without giving away some serious spoilers.

I'll just start with this. All of the characters that I've taken from people have a special... quality. Except Blobs's blobs. They'll be simple enemies you encounter in the game. :3

WhiteYoshi (Me), Alex, Karo, Pengy, Ethan, and Jane all have this quality, and it's wanted by a certain bad guy on Yoshi's Island. I think we can all know who that could be.

It is possible that Karo is in some kind of a... jam, I suppose. I'mma stop here, or else too much may be given away. Keep reading! I appreciate it!

Meet Rick.

f:id:WhiteYoshi:20130621180532p:plain

He's erm... a 'large' one, hm?

Well, Rick is the guy Shadow Yoshi tasked with retrieving the Earth Elemental Gem from the Terranis sanctuary. Before Shadow Yoshi took over Yoshi's Island and pulled it under the sea, Rick was just a normal Yoshi living on the island. He was around his late 30's in age, but still had a bodily appearance like the one he has during the events of Yoshi Legacy.  He was nearing 50 years of age when he was called to arms by Shadow Yoshi. Sadly, and rather obviously, he's not really capable for that kind of job. One may wonder why Shadow Yoshi even picked him to do such a task in the first place, and there's actually a reason he was chosen instead of someone more capable.

Rick used to have a younger brother named Byron. Byron was around 15 years younger than Rick, and he was captain of King Yoshius IV's royal guard. When Shadow took over, he bewitched the entirety of Yoshius's guards, including Byron. Byron was originally the one Shadow Yoshi wanted to search for the Earth Elemental Gem, but he was killed by a certain someone sporting dark blue hair and a Ztar Wand...

After Rick is defeated by the heroes, he decides to work with Angus on his cargo transporting job. He will be seen again by the heroes later on.

How is Pengy used in my series?

f:id:WhiteYoshi:20130620055207p:plain

Well, as a good number of my fans know, Pengy isn't actually an original character of mine. She's actually a character of a good friend of mine named Ashley. In Yoshi Legacy: Heroes of the Mushroom Continent, she's one of the protagonists of the game, alongside characters made by me, like King Yoshius, Marcellus, and company.

Pengy first appears in the series after Prince Edward washes up onto the shore near her home. Concerned, she brings him to her home and takes care of him while he recovers from the event. About one week later, Edward is conscious enough to realize where he is, and initially shows shock. However, Pengy comforts him and converses with him for a while and learns about where he came from and what he is trying to do: scour the continent for the Elemental Gems. After Edward realizes the rest of his companions are not amongst Pengy, he gets up to leave and find them. However, she decides to come with him on his search, for she claims her caretaker, a stepfater named Angus, doesn't really do much with her.

Pengy doesn't realize it at first, but she has much magical potential in the ice element. She is told telepathically in the mountains, and first realizes her power in the earthen town of Terranis, inhabited mostly of Koopas. As the story goes on, she will find more and more of her icy prowess, and find out who she really is.

Special thanks to Ashley for even letting me use her character in the first place!

I don't remember her DeviantArt, but if someone can provide, I'd appreciate it. :3

Meet Clay.

f:id:WhiteYoshi:20130624110623p:plain

It's that guy who's always in the shadows, helping Shadow Yoshi along in the sidelines. He does almost all of what Shadow Yoshi tells him to do, but why?

Clay is an enigma. He hasn't talked much in what had been released in the series already, so even his personality is rather hidden from readers. From his lashing out against Shadow Yoshi's command , it suggests he has power, but what kind and how much of it, exactly?

Well, I can't exactly reveal TOO much. I don't want to spoil the story for you, but he is indeed somewhat powerful, and much underestimated by Shadow Yoshi. He has some secret ties to one of the main heroes in the story, and this connection is rather important. That's all I'll share with you guys, at least for now.

Welcome to WhiteYoshi's Page!

f:id:WhiteYoshi:20130609091033p:plain

Hello, visitor. You have stumbled upon WhiteYoshi's page, where many different things about Yoshi Legacy: Heroes of the Mushroom Continent is posted.

Yoshi Legacy is a series that I started on Flipnote Hatena, another of Hatena's services. However, the DSi-based site went down, so I decided to make a page for it on Hatena Blog.

I will be posting artwork, side-stories from the series, and more here. I still plan to make this into a Role-Playing Game someday, so keep my series in mind. You wouldn't want to miss this game.

Thanks for reading, and welcome!
